Just like morning/day/night, all living beings are in constant interaction with Sattva (clarity), Rajas (activity), & Tamas (rest) throughout life. We need all these states in balance, but as soon as there is an imbalance, we experience distress. During this time, our goal should be to move towards Sattva.
