For quality black colour: Step 1 - Take 2 tablespoons of henna powder (adjust based on hair length/thickness). Mix with warm water in a non-metallic bowl to form a smooth paste, slightly thinner than yoghurt consistency - wet but not runny. Let the henna paste sit overnight (6-8 hours) to allow the dye to release. You'll notice a brownish layer on top when ready. Step 2 - Right before application, mix 4 tablespoons indigo powder with the henna paste and add a little warm water. Stir until smooth (slightly thinner than yoghurt). Indigo must be used immediately after mixing as it loses potency if left sitting. Step 3 - Apply evenly to hair, focusing on grey areas. Coat all strands thoroughly from roots to tips. Cover with plastic wrap or shower cap and leave for 2 hours minimum. Wash with normal water. Note: Avoid shampoo or oil for 24-48 hours to let colour settle.
