    FAQs

In Ayurveda, sesame oil has earned the title "king of oils" due to its versatility and comprehensive benefits for body care. This 100% organic, cold-pressed sesame oil has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, combined with its natural ability to stay fresh over long periods. It's the premier oil for traditional Abhyangam (Ayurvedic massage) and has been used to support numerous health systems including the nervous system, bones and muscles, skin and hair, digestive tract, and reproductive system. Its warm, oily qualities can be especially balancing for vata dosha.

Yes! Oil pulling with sesame oil is a traditional Ayurvedic self-care practice described in classical texts as part of daily oral hygiene. It is performed by gently swishing oil in the mouth to help support oral freshness and cleanliness.

To practise, place about one tablespoon of sesame oil in your mouth and swish slowly for 15-20 minutes, or until the oil becomes thinner in consistency. Spit it out (do not swallow) and rinse well with warm water. This ritual is traditionally believed to help support the natural strength of teeth and gums and maintain a fresh, balanced mouth environment.

In Ayurveda, sesame oil (Tila Taila) is regarded as a deeply nourishing oil that helps support the natural strength and vitality of the hair and scalp. Classical Ayurvedic texts describe sesame oil as warming in nature and traditionally used to help support normal circulation and root nourishment when massaged into the scalp.

Rich in natural omega fatty acids, this cold-pressed, organic oil helps support the scalp's natural moisture balance and maintain the appearance of soft, well-nourished hair. Regular use as part of an Ayurvedic head-massage ritual helps support relaxation and a sense of balance while caring for the scalp and roots.

Note: Not recommended for those with an oily scalp.

No, this is a common misconception. In traditional Ayurvedic practice, sesame oil is valued for helping support the skin's natural balance and vitality-it does not promote unwanted body hair growth or darken the complexion.

When used for massage, sesame oil is traditionally believed to help support normal circulation and maintain healthy-looking skin. Its naturally nourishing texture and rich fatty acid profile help support suppleness and moisture, leaving the skin feeling soft and well cared for.

Regular self-massage with sesame oil is also regarded in Ayurveda as a grounding ritual that helps support relaxation and restful sleep.

    For hair:
Warm a small amount of oil between your palms and gently massage it into the scalp and hair roots. Leave it on for several hours or overnight, then rinse with a mild herbal shampoo. This traditional Ayurvedic practice helps support scalp nourishment and the appearance of soft, healthy-looking hair.

    For skin:
Use for a traditional Ayurvedic self-massage (Abhyanga). Warm the oil slightly and apply it over the body using slow, circular motions before bathing. Regular practice helps support relaxation, suppleness, and the skin's natural glow.

    For oil pulling:
Place about one tablespoon of sesame oil in the mouth and gently swish for 15-20 minutes before spitting out (do not swallow). This classical Ayurvedic ritual is traditionally used to support oral freshness and daily well-being.

This pure, cold-pressed organic sesame oil (Sesamum indicum) contains no sulphates, parabens, formaldehyde, mineral oil, silicones, petroleum wax, artificial colours, or synthetic fragrances, and involves no animal testing.
