Step 2 - RIGHT BEFORE APPLICATION, mix 4 tablespoons indigo powder with the henna paste and add warm water to form smooth paste (slightly thinner than yoghurt). IMPORTANT: Indigo must be used immediately after mixing as it loses potency if left sitting - this is crucial for colour development. Step 3 - Apply paste evenly to hair, focusing on grey areas. Coat all strands thoroughly from roots to tips. Cover with plastic wrap or shower cap and leave for 2 hours minimum. Wash with normal water. Note: Avoid shampoo or oil for 24-48 hours to let colour settle. Warm water activates indigo, and adding salt (optional) enhances dye release and adherence. Always mix in non-metallic bowl.

It is advisable to do a strand test before applying indigo powder to your entire hair and scalp. Select a one-inch section of your hair and apply the indigo mixture to it to see what colour it may leave - this is crucial as colour can vary based on your natural hair colour and condition. IMPORTANT: After you have used indigo, do not use any bleaching hair products for 6 weeks minimum, as this can cause unpredictable colour reactions and damage.
